2011 Winner of the
Mark Twain Award for Excellence!

A little History:
During the 1930s, the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, under a program called "The New Deal" created a number of public works projects to help Americans recover from the depression. One such project was the Matanuska Valley Colony, which brought 200 Depression era farm families from the upper Midwest to settle in the raw wilderness of Alaska and create an agricultural community. The community they created was Palmer, Alaska.
